Description: Inter-School Competitions Brings Together Budding Talent from Across the City A vibrant showcase of talent and sportsmanship was on full display at the Inter-School Competitions held at Convent of Jesus & Mary, Shimla on 30 May, 2025. The event brought together students from six reputed schools across the city namely Bishop Cotton School, St. Edward’s School, Loreto Convent Tarahall, Sarawati Paradise International School and IVY International School, engaging in a spirited contest across multiple disciplines including dance, singing, volleyball, and debate. The day-long event saw enthusiastic participation as young performers captivated the audience with their artistic flair in the dance and singing competitions. Meanwhile, the volleyball courts buzzed with energy as teams battled it out in a display of athletic skill and teamwork. The debate competition sparked lively discussions on relevant issues, reflecting the intellectual caliber and confidence of the students. The Principal of Convent of Jesus & Mary, Sister Greta welcomed all participating schools and appreciated the students for their zeal and sportsmanlike spirit. “Competitions like these not only foster healthy rivalry but also build friendships and mutual respect,” they said. Winners were felicitated with trophies and certificates in a grand valedictory ceremony, attended by teachers, students, teacher-escorts and special guests from the education sector. The event concluded on a high note with National Anthem. Convent of Jesus and Mary, Chelsea bagged the First position in Dance and Debate but being the host school gave it up to the second best school. Saikriti Sharma of Loreto Convent Tarahall won the Best Singer Award while Anvesha Raman of Convent of Jesus and Mary bagged the Runner-up trophy. In the Dance Competition, Saraswati Paradise International won the Runner- up title while the Best Dance Troupe trophy was claimed by IVY International School. Best School trophy for debate was won by Loreto Convent Tarahall while the Best Speaker title as well as Best Speaker ‘Against’ the motion title was claimed by Prithviraj of Saraswati Paradise International School. Bhavya Singh Dhanda of Loreto Convent Tarahall won the Best Speaker ‘For’ the motion title while Abhijato Chaterjee of Bishop Cotton School won the Best Speaker ( Rebuttal) title. In the Volleyball matches Convent of Jesus and Mary emerged as the winner while Loreto Convent Tarahall secured the Runner-up position. Aleen Chauhan of Chelsea was awarded the ‘Best Player’ trophy. Such initiatives continue to nurture talent and reinforce the importance of holistic education in today’s dynamic world.
