CJM-Shimla

For the third consecutive time, Chelsea School proudly secures the Best School's Trophy at the Model United Nations (MUN) competition. The St. Edwards Model United Nations event took place on October 7th and 8th, with 11 school and 124 participants from all over Shimla and Solan. Several students from our school participated and achieved gold medal in all three committees.

Sneha Sharma earned a gold medal in the International Court of Justice. In the United Nations human rights commission, Aditi Khurana achieved a gold medal, Rashel Kashyap secured a Bronze, and Aahana Chauhan received verbal appreciation for her performance.

In the Joint Parliamentary session, Jerika Bhogal claimed a gold medal, while Priya Thakur received verbal appreciation. Tanishka Mehta received verbal appreciation in the caricature category.

Congratulations to all the participants for their outstanding achievements!

On 1st September, 2023 an inter-school G.K quiz competition was held at Chapsee School Bhrari Shimla on the occasion of golden jubilee. 17 school participated. Two of our students Aahana Chauhan of class XII- Lily and Arnima Bhapta of class XI-Orchid also participated and bagged the 2nd position. They were felicitated with a trophy and mementos.

On 27th September an inter-school declamation was organized at St. Bede’s collage with school from within Shimla participating in it. The topic of the declamation was “youth in legislature policy making (G-20)” Sneha Sharma of class 12th orchid participated in it and bagged the 1st position, an E- certificate and prizes were awarded to the winners.

It has been a great privilege since Aahana Mehta of Class 2nd Rose has attained North Zonal Rank 129 this year and has been awarded a Bronze medal + Merit Certificate for CREST EDUFUND MENTAL MATHS OLYMPIAD (CEMMO). She has also been awarded a medal and a certificate for securing First rank at the State level in Unified International Mathematics Olympiad (UIM). She was highly appreciated for her achievements and recognition by our esteemed principal Sr. Stella. It has been heartfelt delight to see her accomplishments and we embrace hope for her future successes.

28th HP State Shooting Championship was held at Nahan from 25th June 2023. Three students from Chelsea participated and won medals in different categories.

• Samiya Singh Chauhan of Class XII Lily won Gold medal in 10m Air Rifle Youth Women ISSF, Gold medal in 10m Air Rifle Sub-Youth Women ISSF, Silver medal in 10m Air Rifle Junior Women ISSF, Bronze medal in 10m Air Rifle Women ISSF.

CJM-Shimla

The Indian international model United Nations, now Indian International movement to unite nations a national level championship conference was held in Mumbai from 12th to 15th August.

The IIMUN national championship conference – Independence Day edition was conducted at 3 different zones with over 600 delegates and participants from 220 cities and different countries. Two students from our school participated and bagged prizes in the following categories:

Brinda Popli- bagged high commendation in the United Nations general assembly committee and Jerika Bhogal bagged high commendation in the Lok Sabha committee.

Overall it was a great learning experience and a moment of pride to represent our school.

B.L. Modi Inter-school English Elocution was held at Bishop Cotton School on 21st and 22nd July 2023. Students from convent of Jesus and Mary, participated and won prizes under various categories:

1. Vibhavri Dhaulta of class VI Lily won best speaker's award in intermediate division in poetry.

2. Vaishnavi Sharma of class VII Rose won the Most Promising speaker – 1 under the same category.

3. Mrinalini Bakhirta of class VIII – Orchid won most Promising speaker 2 in prose.

4. Maitri Manta of class X - Orchid won the best speaker's award under the senior Category in Dramatics.

5. Kaishi sharma of class X-Orchid won the Most Promising speaker – I under the same category.

6. Sneha Sharma of class XII - Orchid won the Best speaker's award under the senior category in extempore.

On 23 and 24 June, 2023 an interschool ‘Model United Nations’ was held at Loreto Convent Tara Hall. Nine different schools from Shimla had participated in the event. Convent of Jesus and Mary, Chelsea, Shimla bagged the Best School’s Trophy along with the prizes under the following committees:

On June 5, 2023 the students of Convent of Jesus & Mary from Classes IX, X and XII accompanied by their teachers participated in different campaigns at CM residence Oak Over, Peterhoff, SP office Shimla and at CPRI. The campaign was flagged off by our honourable Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. The aims of the campaign were Beat Plastic Pollution (Meri Life Mara Swach Shehar), Awareness among youth on drug abuse (Pradhav) and Solutions for scientific processing and disposal of waste generated.. This campaign was addressed by the Chief Minister, UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador Miss Diya Mirza, Education Minister Rohit Thakur and D. G. P Sanjay Kundu. All the students from various schools of Shimla administered the oath for the prevention of environment. Class X students Bhumika Thakur, Devyani Thakur and Joaina Verma received the certificates of appreciation for the participation.

Shimla District Shooting Championship and Mini Marathon

Shimla District Shooting Championship was held from 1-05-2023 to 3-05-2023 at Indira Gandhi Khel Parisar, The Mall Shimla. Three of our students participated and won medals in different categories.

Kashvi Singh Chauhan of Class VIII Rose won gold medal in air rifle sub-youth women (NR) Alysaa Batta of Class VII Orchid won silver and bronze medal in air rifle sub- youth women & air pistol sub -youth women. Samiya Singh Chauhan won bronze medal in air rifle youth women (ISSF).

Mini marathon was also organised by SJVN Ltd. from secretariat to hotel Peter Hoff on 13/05/23 in which Kashvi Singh Chauhan won silver medal with a cash prize of Rs. 4000.

HIMACHAL ART FESTIVAL 2023

Himachal Art Festival 2023 was held on 21st to 23rd of April in which 17 students of our school participated and they were accompanied by Mam Prabjot and were honoured to meet senior artist "Mr. Jatin Das" who was also the chief guest for the event.

Various schools and artists also took part in this workshop, where our students did painting on canvas and paper with different styles and techniques. All the participants were awarded with certificates. It was a great learning and knowledgeable experience.

Karate Championship

All India Karate – Do Championship was held from 12th May to 14th May 2023 at Chauda Maidan Badminton Court, Shimla. 24 students from CJM, Chelsea participated in the championship & all 24 students bagged medals.

Five of our students won gold, 11 of them won silver medal and 8 of them came back with bronze medal.

"TALENT WINS GAMES, BUT TEAMWORK AND INTELLIGENCE WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS." - MICHAEL JORDAN

The Loreto Convent, Tara Hall School of Shimla on 28th and 29th of April organised an Inter-school Basketball Tournament wherein 144 participants from 12 teams participated. The opening ceremony took place by the marching of various schools. Convent of Jesus & Mary, Chelsea went ahead and defeated St. Thomas by an amazing score of 44-0 in the first round. In their second match, the Chelseaites beat the Auckland House School by 27 - 5 and qualified for semi-finals. On the morning of 29th April 2023, we faced K. V. Jakhoo in Are semi-finals and won by 28 - 8. The final match was played between Convent of Jesus & Mary, Chelsea, Shimla and St. Lukes, Solan where the latter was declared the winner. While the host school, Loreto Convent bagged the third position, the Chelsea team came back home with the runner's -up trophy, medals and certificates. The collected efforts of the whole team led them to victory.

Himanshi Sehgal, Class 7th lily, had participated in 21st National UCMAS Abacus Competition. She bagged 3rd runner up in the national level and got trophy and Certificate. She also participated in Kenken international Maths Puzzle Competition and cleared school and city round and won medal and a certificate.

From 17th march to 19th march, 2023, the Keekli charitable trust had organized a three day children’s literature fest “Mimansa.” It aimed at various inter- school literary competitions such as Declamation, Vocabulary skills, Slogan writing, Poster making and Bookmark making. Eight students from CJM-Chelsea participated and won prizes in various categories:

The event was quite interesting where students were able to connect with their spiritual selves and channelize their creative quotient.

The fifth edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha which had been a five day event held in New Delhi. The event was from 24th to 29th of January and was conducted in New Delhi.

The event started with a two day practice on 24th and 25th at the Talkatora stadium in New Delhi.

On 26th we had an opportunity to watch the Republic Day Parade. On 27th the participants were taken to Talkatora to have the discussion on Pariksha Pe Charcha with none other than our honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

After the event a high tea with education minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan at his resident was arranged.

The day of 28th was booked for sightseeing of the places like Lal Qila, Amar Jyoti and Pradhanmantri Sangralaya and many more.

We all attended the presidential retreat ceremony on 29th.

The return of all the participants was arranged on 30th.

This program was a great exposure. Out of 20000 students who participated in the creative writing competition, Sana Dharma from Convent of Jesus & Mary, Shimla bagged the 1st position and was selected for this National Program.

Mrs. Shivali Thakur has escorted the students from Himachal Pradesh to this event.

We would like to extend our thanks to our honourable Principal Sister Stella Mary, without her support and endless encouragement this would not have been possible. We are looking forward to many such honours for Convent of Jesus & Mary, Shimla.

District level exhibition & project competition 2021-22 under Inspire Award Manak Scheme was organized by Deputy Director Higher Education Shimla w.e.f. 30th November to 1st December, 2022 in collaboration with SCERT HP and Department of Science & Technology. Ananya Attri’s model on Nursing Drip Alarm System was shortlisted amongst the top 10 best models for the next state level competition.

Ira Keprate of class 5th Orchid received a trophy and cash prize of 3000/-by DC Shimla for holding first position in Inter school PaintingCompetition under sub junior category in Summer Festival which washeld on 1st June.

Sasshi Pardeep Chauhan of class 8th Rose took part in PDTC- professional Dance Training coarse organized by SDC- Shimla Dance Center on 30th October, 2022, she has won –Best personality, Best choreography, Best performer, Best dress designing and stood second in theory and practical exam also she has been awarded with a certificate and trophies.

Himanshi Sehgal of class VI lily won the champions trophy in state level competition organized by UC-MAS on 31st Oct, 2022. UCMAS stands for Universal Concept of Mental Arithmetic system.

B.L Modi elocution competition was organized by Bishop Cotton School on 15th and 16th July, 2022. The students from Convent of Jesus and Mary also participated in the competition and won many prizes. The students of Primary and Middle school were escorted by Ma’am Shweta Mahajan on 15th July, 2022 whereas the senior girls were escorted by Ma’am Niti Sharma on 16th July, 2022 All the participants displayed immense confidence and poise while their pieces in various categories like poetry, prose, drama, debate and declamation. The winners from various categories were as follows:

Reverend Dr. Samuel Slater memorial English debates were organized by Bishop Cotton School, Shimla. A team of 4 students from Convent of Jesus and Mary accompanied by ma’am Chhaya and ma’am Rashmi participated in the debates that started on 16th October, 2022 and were concluded on 20th October, 2022 respectively. This team (Gunn Seth-class XII, Aditi Khurana-class XI, Jerika Bhogal class-XI and Sneha-class XI) bagged the 2nd position. This year 31 schools from across the country participated in the 25th edition of the competition. More than 120 students participated in 55 debates during the 4 day competition. Team Chelsea won consecutive 5 debates and reached the finals of the debate with La Martiniere Kolkata where they bagged the second position. Team Chelsea won their

On 2nd October, 2022 Aspire Institute conducted ‘Brain of Himachal’ a talent hunt competition for classes 7th to 12th. More than 4500 aspirants appeared from all over Himachal. Maitri Sharma from Class 8th Rose stood first on State level and got a cash prize of one lakh, a trophy and a medal.

On 14th and 15th October, 2022 an Inter School Competition – St. Edwards Model United Nation was held at St. Edwards School Shimla. A total 15 Schools with 144 participants from Shimla and Solan District. Convent of Jesus & Mary, Chelsea, Shimla had participated in the competition out of which 5 students bagged prizes.

A state level painting, salogan and essay writing on the occasion of wildlife week-2021 was held in the month of September-October 2021. Which was organized by Govt. of Himachal Pradesh (Wild life wing forest department) Kanishtha Goel from convent of Jesus and Mary participated in the painting competition and won the 1st prize of rupees 5000/- a trophy and a certificate. On 02/20/2022 Sh. Suresh Bhardwaj (urban development minister) gave prizes to the winners at the Gaiety Theatre.

Unnman Thakur of class 8th Rose attended the international film festival and forum on environment and wildlife, arranged by Himachal Pradesh Department (wildlife wing) secure Himalaya project on 71st wildlife week celebration from 3rd to 4th October, 2022 on behalf of Convent of Jesus & Mary, Shimla. She was awarded a certificate for active participation in ‘green Filmmaking Workshop’ on October 3rd, 2022 for “Secure Green Filmmaking Workshop and Film Festival” at Shimla.

On 18th September 2022, an Inter School Painting, Declamation and Slogan Writing Competition was organized by Rotary Club Shimla in St. Edwards School. 37 schools form Shimla and Solan district had participated in this competition. Some of our students also participated actively and were accompanied by Ma’am Prabjot. It is a matter of honour and pride that 3 students of Chelsea bagged prizes in various categories. Tanishka of Class 10th Rose won first position in Painting in junior category. Priya Thakur of 10th Orchid bagged the first prize in Hindi Declamation and Gauri Negi of Class 12th Orchid stood third in English Declamation. The winners were rewarded with a shield, certificate and a gift as a prize.

An all India Seigokan Goju Ryu Karate Do state championship was held on 16th and 17th July, 2022 at Maharaja complex Baijnath Kangra 800 students participated from 9 district, Kullu, Mandi, Sirmmaur, Kangra, Chamba, Bilaspur, Solan, Shimla and Una. Girls from Chelsea participated in the event from class 6th Sanchi Singh Delta won two silver medals and Bhumika Nalwa won two gold medals. Naysha Shirkot from class 7th won a silver medal and Priyal Bansal from class 8th won gold, silver and a bronze medal.

The dance event was organized at “kalibari” Shimla from 27th May, 2022 to 29th May. This event was organized by “Geeta Art Act & Nritya Association) (BHILAI). This event was a big scale event where performers from different states had participated. The dance event had many categories like, classical, semi classical, folk, hip-hop etc. in solo and group performances.

This platform has brought Chelsea into limelight once again after the pandemic. The total students who participated in solo performances were 48 and Chelsea has bagged 28 prizes. It was a great achievement and we are really grateful to our respected Principal Sr. Stella for her Guidance and support.

CJM-Shimla

On 26th June, 2022 International Day Against Drug Abuse, a “Run Against Drug” marathon was organized at Ridge mall Shimla by the government of Himachal Pradesh. More than 1000 students took part from all over Shimla, thirty five girls from Chelsea also participated. The chief guest for the day was our honorable chief minister Mr. Jai Ram Thakur. The marathon route was from the ridge and ended at Hotel Peterhoff. All students were given refreshment and the experience was great.

A mixed martial art Karate tournament was organized by the DC on 26th June, 2022. Five students from convent of Jesus and Mary participated in the event. It’s a matter of pride that Boomika Nalwa, Miraya Bali and Sanchi Singh Delta from class 6th won gold medal. Ashwi Mehta of class 7th won silver medal and Priyal Bansal from class 8th also won a gold medal.

On 24th June, 2022 a painting competition was organized by District administration at GSSS Portmore Shimla

The theme of the painting competition was “Prevention of Drug Abuse” two students from C.J.M Chelsea had participated and it is a matter of immense pride and honour that Ruhani Sharma of class X Rose bagged the 1st prize and a cash prize of Rs. 5100. The prize money and the certificate was awarded to Ruhani by the honorable chief minister of our state Sh. Jai Ram Thakur.

Different sports activities were held during International Summer Festival which were concluded between 02 June to 05 June 2022 at Ridge, Shimla. Our school participated in various sports activities and won prizes in different games. Saniya Singh Chauhan won in Open Shooting Championship while Akriti Sharma, Avani Sen and Ananya Chauhan won 1st and 2nd prizes in team event in Badminton Category respectively. Aarika won Bronze medal in National Drop Roball in Bhopal. We’re thankful to our honourable Principal Sister Stella Mary for providing us with facilities and our sport teachers for preparing us well.

On 5th June 2022, students of Class XII attended an Environment Day Rally organized by Himachal Pradesh Committee of Science, Technology and Environment (HIMCOSTE). The central theme of the rally was “Only One Earth” and “No to single use plastic”.

The rally started from Sanjauli passing by IGMC road, Lakkar Bazzar and ending at the Gatey Theatre. Students went all the way saying their slogans.

After the rally the students attended on Environment Day Programme at the Gatey Theatre with Mr. Prabhod Saxena as the chief guest. The students were enlightened with the profound words of the chief gust and the other dignitaries at the programme. It was followed by a prize distribution ceremony and the release of various booklets. This marked the ending of the programme. Students were also provided with refreshments and lunch at the programme. The students who attended the rally were Gunn Seth, Vani Mohindru, Khushi Negi, Niyati Sardana, Prisha Sharma, Mihika and Aarushi Rathaur of Class XII accompanied with Sir Suresh Thakur.

This programme invoked a sense of responsibility towards the environment in the students which shall truly be fruitful for everyone.

The anti-Drug abuse marathon was held on 24th April, 2022. All the students were requested to assemble near the church on the mall road and once all students gathered there, some exercises were done as a warm up. After some time, we were asked to take our seats.

The chief guest for the Day were our honorable DC Mr. Aditya Negi and Local counsellor Mrs. Kimmi Sood. A play was put up by college students, which was indeed very, educative and informative about the ill effects of drugs on our physical and mental state. One of the students shared his experience on drug addiction and its withdrawal. His speech conveyed a very clear message that initially its us, who intake drugs but taking the drugs will gradually consume us, both mentally and physically. After, all this the marathon finally began, we started running from the ridge.

The marathon route started from the ridge and ended near Ritz covered nearly 7 km. We all were asked to take tickets in order to get refreshments. The marathon concluded by National Anthem.

The experience was great. We would like to thank our esteemed Principal Sr. Stella for giving us this great opportunity, so that we could participate in the marathon we are also very thankful to ma’am Anju and sir Suresh, for accompanying and for being so supportive this experience was actually a reminder for the youth that

Great achievement always requires great sacrifices

Sasshi Pardeep Chauhan of class 8th Rose took part in “let’s Dance together”, season-4 organized by S.D.C Shimla dance center from 1st January to 24th April 2022. She has been chosen as the best dancer and also has been awarded with a trophy and a certificate.

Olympiad was conducted by unified council in January 2022. Himanshi of class VI Lily stood first in both maths and science Olympiad in Himachal. She has been awarded with a medal and a certificate. She has also won the first position in TED 4 me poem recitation competition.

Mrinali Singh of class VI lily stood 2nd in Maths and won second rank at the state level she received a gold medal and a certificate.

Ojaswini Kanwar of class VI Lily stood 2nd in a dance competition organized by Risig studio. She has been awarded with a certificate.

1st all India national women Karate championship was in Varanasi Uttar Pradesh in December 2021. Two of the students Bhumika from class VI Rose and Priyal from VIII Orchid participated in the event, Bhumika won a gold medal and Priyal won a gold and one bronze medal.

On 24th April 2022, an art workshop was held on The Ridge Shimla organised by Department of Language, Art and Culture, Himachal Pradesh under "Shimla Art Festival". 20 students from CJM of class X and XII also participated in the workshop where they showed their creative and artistic skills through various art forms and talked to renowned artists to learn something new. The students were guided and assisted by respected teachers of our institution. It was a great learning experience for the students

There was a competition held in Gaiety Theatre Shimla organized by SDC Shimla on 3rd Nomember.
Sasshi Pardeep Chauhan of Class V Lily won the title of Student of the Year in this competition. Also, she bagged the best Performer and Best Dress Designer Trophies.
In the same competition, Samaisha Gupta of Class V Rose won second runners up trophy for the title of Student of the Year and also bagged trophies for Best Dancer and Best Speaker.

On 19th and 20th October 2019 Shimla District Table Tennis Championship was held at Indira Ghandhi Khel Parisar. Two of our students participated and won prizes. Abhijaya Singh of Class 8th Lily bagged 3rd position in under 15, 18, 21 in Women’s category. Sanskiriti Chauhan of Class 8th Rose secured the Runners up position in women’s double.

On the occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi the Municipal Coorporation organized the ‘Swach Bharat Suggestions Competition’ in which all the schools of Shimla took part. It was a great honour for our student Saloni Pirta of Class 8th bagged the 1st position and a cash prize of Rs 2100/- from honourable Chief Minister Mr. Jai Ram Thakur and Governor Mr. Bandaru Dattatreya.

Directorate of Higher Education had organized a Hindi Declamation Competition at Gaiety Theater Shimla on 7th September 2019, in which 20 schools had participated. Two of our students, Nancy Singh of Class IX Orchid and Mannat Bhumra of Class XI Orchid had participated and have bagged the second prize and a cash prize of Rs. 500/-.

On 3rd September 2019, “Chief Minister’s Startup Programme and a one day workshop” was held at St. Bedes College. This programme also had an ‘Idea Contest’ where students had to present their innovative ideas for development of society.

Children Science Congress, a nation wide science communication program was held at Government Girls Senior Secondary School Portmore on 6th & 7th September 2019, at the sub-divisional level. Six of our students participated in this event. The participants were as follows:

All the winners will now represent the school at the district level of the Children Science Congress.

A cultural event was held on 3rd September 2019, organized by Udayan Charitable Society. Gauri Negi of Class IX Lily participated in Declamation and Poetry competition. She bagged the 1st prize in Poetry, she won a trophy, certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 1000/- and 2nd prize in Declamation, a trophy and certificate. She also won the best school representative trophy.

An Inter School Table Tennis Championship was held at Arya Samaj School, Shimla w.e.f. 23 August, 2019 to 25 August, 2019. Two of our students, Sanskriti Chauhan of Class VIII Rose and Abhijaya Chandel of Class VIII Lily had participated in the event. In the individual event of the Sub-Junior Girls category, Abhijaya Chandel of Class VIII Lily bagged the 3rd prize. In the team events of the under 15 category, CJM Chelsea won the 3rd prize and in the under 18 category also our team secured the 3rd position.

H.P. State Shooting Championship was held at Chamba w.e.f. 22 August 2019 to 25 August 2019. Samiya Singh Chauhan of Class VIII Lily won a Silver Medal for 10m Rifle Youth Women NR and Kashvi Singh Chauhan of Class IV Orchid won a Silver Medal for Air Rifle Women U12.

The Discovery school connect program was organized for Classes V to VIII on 24th May, 2019. A test was conducted by the Discovery team based on questions from programs of Animal Planet, Discovery Science and Discovery Channel. All the students participated with great enthusiasm and were pleased to receive badges and pens from the organisers.

The names of the winners were announced on 24th July, 2019. All the winners were delighted to receive their prizes i.e., bags, bottles, calendars, caps and certificates.

The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.

On 25th May and 26th May 2019, twelve students of Chelsea participated in Model United Nations in St. Edwards, Shimla. This event is held every year to enlighten students about the United Nations and how it works. A total of 180 delegates from 13 schools participated in the EDMUN 2019. The students were given delegations of different countries in United Nations General Assembly and United Nations Security Council, Indian politicians in the Joint Parliamentary session and there was a reporter and a photographer in the International Press from each school. Palak Sharma and Gracy Seth won the high recommendation (Silver Medal) and Tasheena Singh won the special mention (Bronze Medal).

An Inter – School Competition was organized by Loreto Convent, Tarahall on 23rd April 2019 i.e. Tuesday. Various events like Debate, Bilingual Turncoat, Spell Bee, Crossword Puzzle and Slogan Writing were organized. Our students bagged prizes in all categories and we also won the Best School Trophy.

A Bicentennial Basketball tournament was organized by the St. Anthony Junior College, Agra where different school of CJM family participated. St Anthony secured 1st position followed by St. Patrick. CJM Chelsea bagged the 3rd position and won the trophy of Best Score of the tournament. Our team was accompanied by our coaches Sir Suresh and Ma’am Ranjana. Our team played three matches and gave a splendid performance and the score was 28 of CJM Chelsea by 8 of St Joseph, Agra, in another match our team defeated CJM Sardhana by the score of 47-1. We had an inseparable experience. We had a team of 10 students.

‘Words teach us lesson but experiences test how well we know our lessons. ‘On the 28th and 29th of April, 2018 twelve students of Chelsea participated in Edwards Model United Nations that is held every year to actuate the students to learn about various important decision-makers of the world and gives them an insight to how our systems work.

The students had been given the delegations of various countries in the UN General Assembly and UN Security council, of India politicians in the Joint Parliamentary Session and in the International press, a reporter and photographer represented the school. The participants are as follows-

On 3rd 4th and 5th of August, Indian international model of United Nations, Chapter Shimla was organized in the premises of Loreto Convent Tara Hall. Six school from and outside Shimla participated. A total no. of 250 students took part in the event representing different countries or leaders in various committees including UNSC, UNW, ECO-FIN, WHO, Lok sabha, VNEP and IP. A team of 15 students from Convent of Jesus and Mary took part in the event.

Tanisha Bhatia represented Russia in the ECO-FIN committee and won best delegate first price, Shruti Garg represented Switzerland in UNW and won best delegate- first price, Mahiva Papta represented Iran in UNW and won verbal appreciation.

Keeping this thought in mind the team of Convent of Jesus & Mary, Chelsea took part in St. Claudine Oxford Style Debate Competition held on CJM Delhi. Accompanied by Ma’am Laly; a team of three girls departed to Delhi on 6th August, 2018.

A total of eight CJM schools had participated from all over India. The competition was held on 7th August, 2018 in the school. The topic was “forgiveness means no punishment”. The three girls that participated from our school were Meghna Sharma as the interjector, Riya Sohni in favour of the motion and Gunjan Singh Negi speaking against the motion.

Among all the participants Riya Sohni bagged the 1st position becoming the Best Speaker and our school Convent of Jesus & Mary, Shimla became the Best School for the event. Everyone appreciated the efforts of the students. It was a moment of joy for the entire school.

A Seiko Kai Invitational India Open Karate Championship 2018 was held from 4th to 6th May at Indra Gandhi Sports Complex Shimla about 500 participants from eight states including Delhi, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh participated in the above mentioned championship and 6 students of Chelsea bagged 1 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze.

Every year Help Age India organizes illustration painting and essay writing competitions. In year 2017, 400 students of various Schools participated in these competitions.

Three students of our School also bagged prizes in illustration painting competition. The topic was “When I am 64”. Manya Thakur presently in class X got 1st prize of cash Rs 5,000. Ameya Kapil presently in class IX got a cash prize of Rs. 3,000 for securing 2nd position and Nihasa Serkeck presently in class XI also got 3rd prize of cash 1,000 in the same category.

Joshit Sharma of class IX of Convent of Jesus & Mary, Chelsea Shimla was awarded by the former President of India Dr. Pranab Mukherjee in Ahemdabad on 22nd December, 2017 for making a project on “Pothole and Manhole sensor” which detects potholes and manholes on the road, this device was made a patent by National Innovation Foundation, an autonomous body of the Department of Science and Technology of Government of India on her name. This was one among the 27 projects selected from the 6000 entries. This device serves the function of detecting potholes and manholes even in flooded and water logged situations, saving lives of many. These accidents claim the lives of at least 15000 people every year, so this project will be beneficial in solving this problem.

On 3rd November, 2017 our school participated in the Basket Ball Tournament held at Auckland House School, Shimla. Four teams had participated in the tournament. Our first match was with Portmore School and the score was 7 Portmore and 27 Chelsea and our final match was with Auckland House School in which score was 12 Auckland and 27 Chelsea. We are delightful to announce that not only our school won the match but the tournament as well.

The result of 3rd HP State Seigokan Goju Ryu Karate-Do Championship 2017 held on 2nd and 3rd September. Around 500 participants took part in the mention championship. Students of Chelsea gave a tough competition.

The Shimla District Shooting Championship 2017 was held at Indra Gandhi Sports Complex between 4th August to 6th August. Vani Mohindru of class VII got a Gold Medal in under 15 girls category.

CJM-Shimla p> An All India Seigokan Goju-Ru Karate-Do Championship was held on 6th , 7th and 8th May,2017 at Indira Ghandhi Sports Complex Shimla, (H.P). 600 students participated from all over India in the championship. Thirty five girls from Chelsea participated in the tournament and bagged 6 Goal medals, 6 silver medals and 8 bronze medals.

Audience were filled with enthusiasm whereas the players kept their sportsmanship. Students of Chelsea, with their hard work and concentration won twenty medals.

The tournament had two categories: ‘Kata’ and ‘Kumite’ depicts the various actions that are being used for self defense. It can be called a combination of karate techniques. Kumite is also called sheai or fight. The judges and the referees were Sensei Dinesh Thakur, Sensei P.S. Pawar, Sensei Dinesh, Sensei Jai Prakesh, Densei Anil Jista, Sensei Rakesh Kumar, Sensei Siddarth Kanwar and Sensi Rajender Singh. Unde the guidance of our Karate Coach, Sensi Dinesh Thakur ( President of Seigokan Goju-Ryu Karate- Do Indian Association) the students of Chelsea have achieved great success.

"Speaking with the words is one thing and orating with the heart is another".
On 28th July,2017 an inter- school debate competition was held in St. Edwards organized by the Tribune Tevest where eleven different schools were registered from in and around Shimla. Two students from each school came to represent their respective schools. The topic of the debate was ‘Googlization: Thumbs up or thumbs down’ where one student from a respective school stood in favor and one against the topic. All the students and their escort teachers reached the venue that is St. Edwards school and got themselves registered by 9:30. Each participant was given a random code which represented them in the competition. Once the competition started codes were picked at random and participants came up on the stage to express their opinions on googlization giving it either a thumbs up or a thumbs down. Each participants was given a total of 3 minutes to express their opinions on the topic. Once they ended with their oration, the respective judges would then ask them questions based on what they just said. The participants finished with their oration and then while the results were being compiled, the venerated judges and the chief guest addressed the gathering with their encouraging words. Certain students from the audience came up to entertain the participants and all the other. Two of our participants Riya Sohini, class XI and Parthi Pirta class XII had participated in the competition; Riya Sohini favouring googlization while Parthi Pirta firmly opposing it. Riya bagged the second prize with cash prize of Rs. 4,000 bagged the 3rd prize with a cash prize of Rs 3,000. Chelsea bagged the best school trophy with a cash prize of Rs 3,000.

On 13th and 14th of May. 2017 St. Edwards has organized EDMUN i.e. Edwards Model United Nations which is an imitation of United Nations General Assembly, Security Council and the Indian Parliament. A team of 12 students from Convent Of Jesus & Mary participated in the event. Where Gunjan Singh Negi and Bhavya Thakur represented Bulgaria and won verbal appreciation. Prerita Prakash and Shreya Chauhan represented Russia and won special mention- 3rd Prize. Parthi Pirta and Mimansa Thakur represented U.S.A and won Best Delegate- 1st Prize and Chelsea team won the best school trophy shared by D.A.V New Shimla.

On 22nd March 2017, Inter-school quiz was organized by madad global and department of community medicine IGMC, Shimla at Auckland House School, on world Tuberculosis Day. 23 teams from twelve schools (two from each school) participated, from our school two teams participated 9th- Ayushi Dadwal and Prakriti Singh Rajput, 10th- Bhavya Sharma and Palak Dutta. Two of our students also participated in the Poster Making Competition (Nihasa Sirceck and Gurleen Kaur). The quiz consisted of two round the preliminary round and the final round. In the preliminary round four teams out of twenty three had to be selected for the final round. The four teams that got selected for the final round were C.J.M, DAV New Shimla, DAV Lakkar Bazar and Shimla Public School. Then there was the final quiz between the selected teams covering topics from nutrition, health, life sciences, tuberculosis and current affairs on health. In the final round C.J.M emerged as the winner with 55 points and DAV New Shimla was the runner up with 45 points followed by Shimla Public School and DAV Lakkar Bazar. Information regarding World Tuberculosis Day was also given by senior doctors from IGMC. The winning team of Convent of Jesus and Mary ( Bhavya Sharma and Palak Dutta) were given certificates and memento by the honorable Health Minister Shri Kaul Singh Thakur in IGMC on 24th March 2017 on the occasion of World TB Day.

On 12th and 13th Nov, 2016 a Karate Championship was held at Sports Complex Shimla. The 2nd HP Seigokan Go- juryu Karate- do championship was organized and about 300 students from various districts of Himachal participated in event. Approximately 50 students from Chelsea participated and bagged 37 Medals ( 22 bronze Medals, 10 Silver Medals and 5 Gold Medals). Some of the winners are: 1.Satakshi, 2. Chavi, 3.Sharishti, 4.Tanzil, 5. Dhaanya, 6. Shruti, 7.Aayushi, 8.Shashi, 9.Sonal, 10. Khushi, 11. Sunidhi, 12. Umang, 13. Sneha, 14. Sana, 15. Saba, 16. Sia, 17. Namita, 18. Arshiya won bronze whereas : 1. Pravreeti, 2. Jarul, 3. Vibhooti, 4. Himani, 5. Himani Thakur, 6. Vasvi, 7. Jasleen, 8. Aahna won Silver Medal. Whereas the Gold Medalists Include 1. Mahi, 2. Mridul, 3. Maheyma, 4. Vaishali, 5. Ojaswi, 6. Aayushi. And Mahima, Vaishali and Ojaswi also won bronze whereas Aayushi also won Silver.

On 3rd May, 2016 Urja Kanwar of class 12th and Mimansa Thakur of class 11th participated in the CBSE cryptic crossword contest held in DAV lakkar bazaar, shimla. CJM School enthusiastically participated in the competition along with 22 other schools and bagged the 3rd position.

On 4th may 2016, Auckland house school organized nooked natak (Hindi Drama) competition. In which 10 of our students participated ( Arsh Thakur, shaina verma, aditian kalta, parthi pirta, simran gautam, gunjan singh negi, Tanisha thakur, mitali verma, sheril thakur and nandini singh thakur) and 15 school participated in this competition. Convent of Jesus and mary Chelsea bagged 2nd position in this competition. Audience appreciated the drama performed by our student.

The winners and the participants of various Inter School Drawing and Painting Competitions held in Auckland House School on 10th May, 2016. In which Aatishya Sood and Mridul Chauhan of our school (Convent and Jesus and Mary) got 1st prize, Mimansa of class XI ,Mridul Sisodia and Spersh Mehta of class XII got consolation prizes.

On 10th May, 2016 Auckland House School organized Inter School Hindi Declamation Contest. In this competition Category A- Palak Dutta of our school (convent of Jesus and Mary) class 9th Rose bagged 1st prize and Category B- Parthi Pirta of (Convent of Jesus and Mary) class 11th Orchid bagged the 3rd prize.
